Birds of open habitats

A magnificent walk above the Durance river and the village of Orgon, looking for birds of open habitats (Tawny Pipit, Subalpine Warbler, Woodlark) in the heart of the hunting grounds of Bonelli’s Eagle.

Length :  9 km and 370 m gradient

Duration : 4h (allow a day with birding and picnic breaks)

Type of :  Loop and round trip

Best period :  Recommended in the morning for better listening and viewing.

Information  : On this walk you may encounter a flock of sheep with a guard dog nearby, called a “Patou”. In order not to disturb them, please do not approach or make sudden movements, and keep dogs on a lead.

Advice : Extend your birding tour by visiting the interactive exhibition on the birds of the Alpilles at the Urgonia Museum (open from Monday to Saturday excluding public holidays: from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 5.30pm).
